Internet Naming Conventions

Default HTML Pages

• A directory's default directory page is a file with any of the names below. Our Web server searches for files with these names, in the order listed here; within each directory, only the first file encountered will be displayed.
  • default.html
  • index.html
  • default.htm
  • index.htm
  • default.shtml
  • index.shtml

File and Directory Names

• Use forward slash "/" for directory specification, NOT "\".File and directory names are case-sensitive.
• File and directory names can include the upper and lower-case letters A-Z, a-z, digits 0-9, the period (.), hyphen (-), and underscore (_). The server will not permit FTP of file or directory names that contain any other characters.

Usernames and Passwords

• All account names and passwords are case-sensitive.

Domain Names

• Domain names are case-INsensitive.
• The leading "www" commonly used as the designated "hostname" for Web site URL's is optional. Your Web site can be configured to not require the www, or to require some other hostname instead.

Email Addresses

• Email addresses are case IN-sensitive. In addition, to reduce confusion with LiveZone client mail delivery, Email received by our servers addressed to you@mail.yourDomain.com will be treated as though the ".mail" had not been specified.
